USDA PLANT HARDINESS ZONE MAP
For use with the NatureWall
The USDA Hardiness Zone map was developed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. It shows geographical zones based on the average annual minimum temperatures for each zone. In the zone information given for each plant, the smaller number indicates the northern-most zone it can be counted on to survive the winter, and the higher number, the most southerly area in which it will perform consistently. The hardiness zones given for the plants on the accompanying plant lists are from various sources and should not be considered as exact guidelines. Many other conditions affect successful plant growth, such as soil type, moisture, wind, humidity, sun and shade, as well as reflected heat and cold. View the suggested plants as a small selection of many possibilities.
Because the individual "planting cores" or "pockets"in the GreenWall are above ground, it is recommended to use a soil mix designed for container planting. Several choices should be readily available at local garden centers.
